Always disengage the differential locks
immediately on a firm, high-traction
surface.
Differential locks improve the traction of the
vehicle when driving off-road and fording.
The vehicle has three differential locks:

The differential lock for transfer case 1 dis‐
ables the rotational speed compensation
between the front and rear axles.
R
The differential lock for rear axle 2 disables
the rotational speed compensation between
the wheels of the rear axle.
R
The differential lock for the front axle 3 dis‐
ables the rotational speed compensation
between the wheels of the front axle.
System limitations
If the differential locks are engaged, the follow‐
ing driving and driving safety systems are deacti‐
vated:

Engaging the differential locks
Requirements:
R
You are not driving on a paved or public road.
R
You are driving at walking pace.
R
The driven wheels are not spinning.
R
The transfer case is shifted to the LOW
RANGE off-road gear (

page 149).

Engage in the order 1 , 2 , 3 . Press the
respective buttons to do this. Only engage
differential locks 2 and 3 for the front and
rear axle if required.
