Energy management
The energy management system manages the
provision and consumption of electrical energy with
the aim of ensuring the starting ability of the engine
and a stable power supply to all electrical
consumers.
This is realized by the following subsystems:
• Major assemblies coordinator (AGK)
• On-board electrical system management (BNM)
Major assemblies coordinator (AGK)
The major assemblies coordinator is an interface
with the alternator via the ME-SFI control unit (with
gasoline engine) or CDI control unit (with diesel
engine). The ME-SFI control unit or CDI control unit
communicates with the alternator via the drivetrain
LIN.
The AGK contains relevant specifications from the
BNM and computes target voltages for controlling
the alternator management system.

Note
The peculiarities in the procedure for connecting
or disconnecting the battery with no voltage are
described in the Workshop Information System
(WIS).
