Introduction of the New E-Class, Model Series 212 Sedan

The ratio of the steering rack increases sharply away
from the center position. This increase in the ratio
begins at approx. 6° steering angle and reaches the
maximum ratio at approx. 100° steering angle. This
means that there are fewer steering wheel turns from
lock to lock with direct steering.

Variable steering assistance

The steering power assistance is regulated according
to the vehicle speed. It is regulated via the speed-
sensitive power steering solenoid valve, which is actu-
ated by the Electronic Stability Program control unit
according to the speed of the car.
