Keep power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children, or anyone who
is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous
if used by inexperienced people.
•
Maintenance Make sure that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam and that no parts
are damaged. Check for other factors that could affect the operation of the power tool. If the power
tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained power tools.
•
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are
less likely to jam and are easier to control.
•
Use power tools, accessories, cutting tools, etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account actual working conditions and the work that is to be done. It is dangerous to use power
tools for purposes for which they are not intended.
Service
The power tool must only be serviced by qualified service personnel using the standard spare parts. This
ensures that the power tool meets the relevant safety standards.
Important safety instructions
•
Only plug in the power cord when the chain brake is on.
•
The saw bar must not be touching anything when it is started up.
•
Before making a cut, always set the claw stop
(9)
.
•
Do not stop the saw until you have removed it from the timber.
•
The power cord must always be behind you. The power cord must lead away from the rear of the
machine (fig. 5).
•
Use a strong support when cutting bundles of branches and thin branches. Do not stack the timber,
do not let anyone hold it and do not hold it with your foot.
•
Logs must be secured in position.
•
Always work upwards on slopes.
•
If you make several cuts, switch off the saw between cuts.
•
Notch cuts and felling cuts may only be performed by professionals, due to the high risk of
kickback.
•
Always saw, wherever possible, with the underside of the bar, as the machine is then drawn away
from the body, towards the timber (fig. 7, 8).
•
Be especially careful when cutting splintered wood. Offcuts can be thrown in any direction.
•
Never stand on the trunk when sawing off branches.
•
Always stand to the side of a falling tree.
Instructions to prevent kickback
•
Never start cutting with the tip of the saw bar (fig. 6).
•
The chain saw should always be running when it is applied.
•
Always keep the chain correctly sharpened.
•
Never cut more than one branch at a time.
•
If the chain gets caught along the bottom of the bar, the saw can be pulled forwards, away from the
user.
