TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
ACTION
The motor will not start.
Overload protection has
tripped.
Have the switchbox opened by
qualified personnel to reset the
overload protection.
Will not split.
Log is not properly in place.
Place the log as instructed.
Log is too big, or too hard to split. Do not exceed the specified
size, or try to split very hard or
hard grained wood.
The edge of the splitting wedge
is blunt.
Sharpen as per these
instructions.
Oil leak.
Localise the leak and contact
an authorised service centre.
Unauthorised modification
of set maximum pressure
(sealed adjusting screw). Lower
maximum pressure has been set.
Contact an authorised service
centre.
The piston does not move
smoothly, the log splitter
makes abnormal noise, or
vibrates.
Too little hydraulic oil and
too much air in the hydraulic
system.
Check the oil level, and top up
if necessary.
Oil leak round the piston, or
other place.
Air in the hydraulic system
during use.
Unscrew the vent screw a few
turns before use.
Vent screw not tightened when
moving the log splitter.
Tighten the vent screw before
moving the log splitter.
Drain plug and dipstick not
tightened.
Tighten the drain plug and
dipstick.
Worn seals/valves.
Contact an authorised service
centre.
