Installing SWCNT-9 Switch/Controller Front Boards

1. If the chassis front panel is not removed, do so at this time. Refer to

Removing Chassis

Front Panel Cover, page 3-6.6

2. Check to

verify board switch positions

(refer to SWCNT-9

Physical Description,

page 3-3.4

3. Align the SWCNT-9 front board with the upper and the lower card guides of slot 14 (for

a single SWCNT-9 board installation), refer to Figure 3-6.4.

4. Carefully slide it into the chassis until the board connector mates with the chassis

backplane connector.

5. Secure the board by placing the board ejector handle to the up (locked) position.

6. For a redundant SWCNT-9 (Standby board) repeat Steps 2 thru 5, placing the second

SWCNT-9 in Slot 13.

CAUTION —

Wear an ESD wrist strap in order to prevent ESD damage to the

equipment.

CAUTION —

Take care when installing boards while power is applied to ensure the

board does not come in contact with other boards within the chassis. Ensure that the
board is in both the upper and lower card guides before inserting it into the shelf.

Slots 13 and 14 are the designated slots for the SWCNT-9 switch/controller board.
The SWCNT-9 boards can only be installed in these slots.

For consistency, it is recommended that you place the

Active

SWCNT-9 in Slot 14,

and the

Standby

SWCNT-9 in Slot 13.

NOTE

—

DO NOT

mix installation of a conventional SWCNT-9X1 card and a newer

SWCNT-9X2 card in the same chassis. They will not function together.
