patient target group
Healthcare professionals and patients,
including persons who play a supporting
role in care, are the intended users for
this device, provided that they have
received briefing on this from healthcare
professionals. Healthcare professionals
should provide care to adults and
children, applying the available
information on the measurements/sizes
and required functions/indications, in
line with the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Appropriate usage
Taking measurements correctly is a
prerequisite for enabling the system to
do its job optimally. Here, the size of the
ankle (cB) dictates the size to be selected.
Measure below the knee (cD) to confirm
the selected size.
Contact with chemical substances (e.g.
benzenes, methanols, salicylic acids in
high concentrations) may impair the
compressive function of the product. Oils
and ointments should not be applied to
the limb prior to application of the
garment.
If you experience pain or increased skin
irritation while wearing the stockings,
take off the stocking immediately and
consult your doctor or carer.
When a wound is present, always cover
with appropriate dressing prior to
application of compression.
The skin should be inspected on a daily
basis.
Only one stocking should be worn if you
are immobile for long periods of time.
In order to ensure safe use, the under-
stocking mediven ulcer should be washed
at least every 2-3 days.
