How to Operate the Surround Mode
The MHT200 provides eight different Surround Modes,
with one Mode with two functions. The Front Panel Alpha-
numeric Display indicates the Surround Mode selected.
The Surround Mode selected is stored into permanent
memory and automatically recalled any time that particular
input is selected again. If the Surround Mode is changed
when the input is again selected, the new Mode will be ac-
tive and stored. Refer to figure 70.
Note: The Remote Control may also be used to make changes
to the Surround Modes. Refer to figure 69.
Approximately 3 seconds after selecting a new Surround
Mode Setting the Front Panel Alphanumeric Display
will change from indicating that Mode to the normal
display of Input and Volume.
Stereo
Analog Input Signal Sources are sent to the Left and Right
Loudspeakers. All Multi-channel Signal Sources are com-
bined and reduced to 2 channels in the Stereo Mode. Refer
to figures 60 and 70.
Stereo 96kHz
There is a second STEREO phantom position when the
SURROUND MODE Control is rotated clockwise from the
STEREO Position or counterclockwise from the MUSIC 1
position. This position is named STEREO 96kHz. The
Front Panel Alphanumeric Display will indicate STEREO
96kHz and the Front Panel STEREO 96kHz indicator will
also illuminate. This Surround Mode only occurs when ei-
ther a Digital Signal with a special 96kHz sampling rate is
being received or with a 2-Channel Analog Signal. The
96kHz Digital Signal will be decoded. The 2-Channel Ana-
log Signal will bypass the Digital Sound Processing Cir-
cuitry in the MHT200. Refer to figures 61and 70.
Music 1
The Front Panel Alphanumeric Display will indicate MU-
SIC 1. Refer to figure 62 and 70. This Mode utilizes Dolby
Pro Logic II Processing to create a wide and deep sound
space. The effect may be varied depending upon the set-
tings for Dolby Pro Logic II. Refer to “How to change
Mode Setup” on page 42 to alter the settings.

Music 2
The Front Panel Alphanumeric Display will indicate MU-
SIC 2. Refer to figure 63 and 70. This Mode utilizes DTS
NEO:6 Processing to add center, surround and back chan-
nels to a stereo recording. The effect may be varied de-
pending upon the settings for DTS NEO:6. Refer to “How
to change Mode Setup” on page 42 to alter the settings.
Music 3
The Front Panel Alphanumeric Display will indicate MU-
SIC 3. Refer to figures 64 and 70. This processing Mode
creates an effect of a party in a small room. A Center Chan-
nel is created from the Left and Right Front Channels. The
Left and Right Front Channels are sent to the Left and
Right Surround Loudspeakers respectively.
Music 4
The Front Panel Alphanumeric Display will indicate MU-
SIC 4. Refer to figures 65 and 70. This processing Mode
creates an effect of a club. A Center Channel is created
from the Left and Right Front Channels. The Left and
Right Front Channels are sent to the Left Surround, Right
Surround, Left Back and Right Back Loudspeakers respec-
tively with added delayed in time (Music Mode Reverbera-
tion). Refer to “How to change Mode Setup” on page 42 to
alter the settings.
Cinema 1
The Front Panel Alphanumeric Display will indicate CIN-
EMA 1 and the appropriate Front Panel Operating Mode
Display LEDs will illuminate. Refer to figures 66 and 70.
This provides Dolby Pro Logic II processing of Analog
Signals and 2-Channel Digital Signals. It also decodes
Dolby Digital or DTS Signals.
