Detection Principle

detects and analyzes SF
6
gas, by
adopting the principle of infrared absorption spectrum. Infrared absorption spectrum,
also known as infrared spectrophotometry, achieves qualitative and quantitative
analysis of material, by making use of the property of material of selective absorption
for infrared electromagnetic radiation. When light radiation is transmitting in the air,
gas molecules will absorb and scatter light radiation, and finally attenuates. Therefore,
using the absorption characteristic of a gas in a particular wave band will realize
detection of the gas.

infrared sensor is to realize quantitative
detection of SF
6
gas, by detecting the absorption of SF
6
gas for infrared light in this
wave band. Detection principle of SF

gas infrared sensor is shown in Diagram 1-1,
The transmitter inside the sensor emits a certain wavelength (10.55
µ
m) of infrared
light. Then, the light is irradiated to the mirror at the end of the sensor and reflected.
Finally, the light is collected by the receiver. The concentration of SF
6
gas will be
obtained, after the collected light is processed in the electronic measurement system,
according to the relationship between intensity change of this wavelength of infrared
light and the concentration of SF
6
gas.
