Anti Hijack
The AVS S-Series has an anti hijack feature designed to prevent vehicle theft through programmed immobilisation
procedures. This feature is aimed at reducing theft via car jacking or theft of the vehicles keys and alarm remote.
When the anti hijack mode is set to on, the unit waits for a hidden momentary switch (connected between the AUX
wire and ground) to be pressed following a specific event - such as the opening of a door after the ignition is turned
on (anti hijack mode 1) or turning the ignition on (anti hijack mode 2). The LED will flash during the countdown
(programmable to off via Register 2, Feature 14) and the unit will give a four chirp warning and flash the indicators
after 30 seconds to warn of the impending shut down. If this input is not received by the unit following a one-minute
period (total), the unit will immobilise the vehicle, opening immobiliser three on the fuel pump circuit
(programmable to all immobilisers via Register 2, Feature 13 (not recommended if immobilising the ignition)). The
unit will only close the immobiliser again after the ignition has been turned off then on and the momentary switch
has been pressed or the pin code has been entered. Once the anti hijack triggers after the one minute, the alarm will
go off for five minute (programmable to OFF via Register 2, Feature 11) or until the anti hijack is turned off via
turning the ignition on then off and the momentary switch is pressed or pin code is entered.
Mode 1:
In mode 1, the unit will enter anti hijack countdown following the opening of a door when the ignition is on. Upon
entering anti hijack mode, the unit will begin waiting for a disable notification by pressing the momentary switch.
Mode 2:
In mode 2, the unit will enter the anti hijack countdown when the ignition is turned on. Upon entering anti hijack
mode, the unit will begin waiting for a disable notification by pressing the momentary switch.
Wiring of the hidden button/switch:
The hidden button needs to be a momentary switch such as the AVS DS01 discrete switch that can be accessed by
the driver but in a discrete location to increase the security of the anti hijack set up. The switch needs to be normally
open with one side going to ground and the other to the AUX wire of the alarm. This will not affect any sensor
connected to the AUX wire from activating the alarm.
Note: If using this feature with an alarm that includes an external sensor that will pick up someone entering the
vehicle (such as ultrasonic’s, tilt, microwave, shock etc), which are wired to the AUX wire, the sensor will need to
have the negative wire connected to the negative on arm wire from the alarm. The aux sensor plug on the loom is
prewired this way. This will prevent the sensor from acting as the momentary switch whenever someone enters the
vehicle that would override the anti hijack system.
Note: When programming the alarm, if an anti hijack mode is turned to on it may activate while accessing the
programming menu and this will need to be cancelled as above.
