8.0 Replacement Of Safety Devices
The following safety devices must be replaced and tested by a Malmet trained technician, failure to do so may
impair the protection by the device.
Door micro switch replacement
The Door micro switch is located on the bottom right hand side of the device where the door hinge connects to
the door strut behind the side cover.
1.
Isolate all services to device.
2. Remove top, side and lower front covers to gain access.
3. Unbolt micro switch bracket of switch being replaced, the micro switch is mounted on an adjustable
bracket; ensure you mark the position before removing the bracket so minimal adjustment is required on
re-installation.
4. Remove connectors from micro switch, a continuity test of the NC contact on the switch can be completed
to check for correct function or identify a faulty switch.
5. Unbolt faulty switch from bracket and install new micro switch in its place.
6. Install connectors to new micro switch on the NC contact terminals.
7. Reinstall bracket; ensure it is installed as per position previously marked.
8. Once installed power on device and perform the door safety test as per section 7.1 of this manual and
adjust as required.
9. Once completed perform a cycle operation test to ensure correct operation before returning to service.
Element Thermal Cut-out Replacement
1. Isolate all services to device.
2. Allow device to cool before commencing works as device may have residual heat.
3. Remove front lower service cover.
4. Remove capillary bulb from thermal well.
5. Disconnect element legs from thermal cut out switch terminals.
6. Unbolt thermal cut out from bracket and remove.
7. Bolt new thermal cut out switch to bracket.
8. Apply thermal paste to capillary tube bulb and insert all the way into thermal well of steam generator.
9. Connect element legs to new thermal cut out switch terminals.
10. Test operation of thermal cut out as per procedure below.
