MP7500 Router Installation Manual Version 1.0
Control Card (RM7B-MPU408-4GEH)
Cable Connection
This section describes how to connect the control card cables of MP7500
router to the network, including the router console port.
Connect router console port:
MP7500 router provides an EIA/TIA-232 asynchronous serial console port,
through which the user can adopt the character terminal (usually it is a
common PC) with RS-232 serial port to configure the router.
Connect the router through the terminal as follows:
Step 1: Find a character terminal, which can be a standard terminal with
RS-232 serial port and also can be a common PC. The latter is more
common.
Step 2: When the router or character terminal is powered off, connect the
RS-232 serial port of the character terminal to the console port of the
router through the cables.
Connect the router DC0 port:
The control card provides a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet interface and
supports the auto cross function. The user can use the type-5 twisted pair
to connect the 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet interface to the Ethernet
interface of the PC or other devices with Ethernet interface.
Connect the router GIGABIT ETHERNET port:
The control card provides four GE interfaces and each GE interface
provides electricity port and optical port, but each interface can choose
only one to use. When the electricity port is used, use type-5 twisted pair
to connect to the peer device; when the optical port is used, insert the SFP
optical module into the corresponding slot, insert the LC fiber and then
connect one side of the fiber to the peer device. Note that the TX cable is
connected to the RX end of the peer device and the RX cable is connected
to the TX end of the peer device.
Connect the router AUX port:
The control card provides an AUX interface, whose type is RJ45. The AUX
interface is connected to the RJ45 interface of RS232-to- DB25 adaptor
through an AUX-to-RS232 Ethernet cable.
During connection, pay attention to the interface ID and avoid inserting
into other interface.
