Section 3: Service Procedures
When you are trying to diagnose a problem with the EC1000 you should follow the steps below
to quickly resolve machine errors.
1. Get an accurate description of the symptoms from the end user. This will ensure that
you are fixing the actual problem and not making the problem worse.
2. Evaluate the machine yourself and see if you can reproduce the reported error. If the
problem is intermittent and you are unable to reproduce the error ask the end user to
make a note or call you when the error occurs.
3. After you have determined the root cause of the error repair or replace the defective
part or sub-assembly.
3.1: Tools and Materials
Required tools:

Flat-blade screwdrivers, various sizes (long and short)
•
Phillips screwdrivers set, (6” and 12”)
•
Nut driver set
•
Hex wrench set (6” and 12”)
•
Analog or digital multi-meter
•
Portable CD-ROM drive or appropriate flash drive
•
Small USB keyboard
•
USB mouse
Suggested tools:
•
Flash light
•
Caliper
•
Feeler gauges
•
Small inspection mirror
•
Extendable magnetic tool (for dropped screws)
•
Can of compressed air
•
Needle nose pliers
•
Diagonal side cutters and extra zip ties (black)
•

•

•
Blank CR80 size card (p\n: 96500055)
•
