17.3.7 Wire will start feeding from wire nozzle for one minute. Ensure wire does not
slip in drive wheel and encounter any obstructions.
17.3.8 Wire will stop after one minute. Cut wire at end of wire nozzle. Straighten wire
and measure length. Scroll if necessary to “Amount Measured” and enter
value. Press the Save soft key
17.3.9 Repeat steps 17.3.6 thru 17.3.8 to within the acceptable tolerances.
17.3.10 Press the Back soft key when calibration is completed.
17.4 Travel
17.4.1 Travel Speed may be verified or adjusted to within the acceptable tolerances.
Tools required verifying Travel Speed: Tape measure
17.4.2 Attach weld head to control system and power up system. With weld head
mounted on pipe, scribe a start position on the pipe. Position weld head so that
the tungsten is over the scribe mark.
17.4.3 From the main menu screen on the remote pendant, select “Menu”.
17.4.4 Scroll down to “Calibrate Head” and enter.
17.4.5 Select the head to calibrate, select Travel, Distance, O.D., and Guide Ring
Factor. Example: If you expect to run 3 IPM travel speed, enter 3 inches for
travel distance.
17.4.6 Press the Run soft key to initiate travel test.
17.4.7 Travel rotation will start and run for one minute. Using the tape measure,
measure from the start point to the stop point. Enter this value for the “Amount
Traveled”, and press the Save soft key.
17.4.8 If Travel Speed is not within the acceptable tolerances, reposition tungsten over
start scribe mark and repeat steps 17.4.6 and 17.4.7 to within the acceptable
tolerances.
17.4.9 Press the Back soft key when calibration is completed.
