Q System. If the Luminette is still turned on at the keyswitch during this
procedure then LED No.3 should go out as the water is put in. It is advisable,
however, that the full 250ml is introduced so that there will be a maximum
period between topping up operations. When all the deionised water has been
introduced replace the black Filler Cap, but be careful not to screw it on too
far. The air vent hole in the top of the filler pipe must be just visible, as shown
in the picture below.
4.3.2 Filling the Cooling System from Empty
If a Luminette Q System is shipped overseas it will generally be done so
emptied of deionised cooling water to prevent damage to the system caused
by freezing, and consequent expansion, of the water. Before using it for the
first time, therefore, the Luminette cooling system must be refilled with
deionised water. Turning on at the keyswitch will confirm that there is no
water present because there will be no sound from the pump and interlock
LED No.3 on the back panel will light up (as well as No.1). Remove the black
Reservoir Filler Cap from the Reservoir Filling Point on the back panel of the
Luminette Q System and fill up with deionised water using the Filling Bottle
shipped with the Luminette Q System. Keep filling the reservoir until interlock
LED No.3 goes out (probably about 750ml of deionised water). When this
happens turn off at the Keyswitch and turn on again. The pump should start
up and begin circulating the water through the cooling system. Eventually,
however, the pump will stop and LED No.3 will come on again. This time put
in a further 250ml of deionised water (the LED will go out again) and restart
the system by switching off and then on again at the Keyswitch. Repeat this
process (probably only one more time) until the pump keeps working
continuously. Replace the black Reservoir Filler Cap as described in the
previous section, leaving the air vent open.
CAUTION : The Luminette Q System must not be
operated with the Reservoir Filler Car screwed fully in.
The air vent in the top of the Filler Pipe must not be
blocked by the Filler Cap. If it is blocked the cooling
system will not function properly and may start leaking
as pressure builds up in the system during operation.
Always leave the air vent visible, as shown in the
picture.
