4. Cleaning and Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
The Luminette Q Laser System cabinet, control panel and handpiece may be
cleaned on a routine basis by simply wiping down with a damp cloth. The
spotsize spacer attachments should be kept clean by wiping them with lens
tissue moistened with an organic solvent such as ethanol or methanol. It is
recommended that this is done between patient treatments.
4.2 Maintenance Schedule
•
Daily
- Check for water leaks external to the cabinet .
- Check for damage to the spotsize spacers.
•
Every 1,000,000 shots - Change Flashlamp.
- Check cooling water level. Top up if required
- Check internal water connections for tightness.
4.3 Maintenance Procedures
Other than the daily checks it is not recommended that the general USER
attempt any of the maintenance procedures listed in the previous section.
Only competent and authorised personnel (as described in the WARNING box
above) should perform the maintenance procedures, which are detailed fully in
the Service Manual. This and any additional relevant material (e.g. Circuit
Diagrams, Mechanical Design Drawings etc.) can be made available after
consultation with Lynton Lasers Ltd. Service Contracts are also available.
4.3.1 Topping up the Cooling Water
If there is insufficient deionised water in the cooling system the pump will not
start up when the keyswitch is turned on and it will be impossible to fire the
flashlamp in the Luminette Q System. To check that insufficient water is the
real cause of the problem, look at the column of red interlock LEDs on the
back panel. If No.3 is lit when the keyswitch is turned on then insufficient
water in the cooling system is definitely the problem (No.1 will also be lit).
Simply unscrew the black Reservoir Filler Cap from the Reservoir Filling Point
on the back panel of the Luminette Q System and top up the reservoir with
250ml of deionised water using the Filling Bottle shipped with the Luminette
CAUTION : Only personnel from Lynton Lasers Ltd, or from companies
whose personnel have been trained by Lynton Lasers Ltd, should perform
maintenance procedures. The schedule outlined below does not present any
increase in light hazard unless specifically stated. The schedule must be
adhered to. Failure to do so does not lead to an increased light/electrical
hazard but could result in serious damage to the equipment.
