How To… REMOVE AND REPLACE MAIN PULLEY (continued)
Step 6
Pivot the alternator to loosen the belt tension. Remove the belt from the main pulley.
Step 7
Disconnect the 4 connectors from the power Control Board.
Step 8
Using a 5/16 inch wrench, remove the cross plate from the bearing bracket.
Step 9
Remove the belt retainers.
Step 10
Remove the termination sprockets and lay the belt aside.
Step 11
Remove the E-clips from each Clutch assembly.
Step 12
Remove the clutch assemblies. Note the directional arrow on the face of each clutch. Note the large and small trust
washers.the large trust washer goes behind the clutch assembly while the small thrust washer goes under the E-clip
Step 13
Using a ¾ inch socket and wrench, remove the pillow block mounting bolts from the bearing bracket.
Step 14
Remove the mounting bolts,nuts, and washers securing the bearing brackets to the frame. Then remove the
bearing brackets.
Step 15
Remove the set screws in the pillow block bearings from the main pulley shaft.
Step 16
Install the new pulley in the reverse order of the disassembly procedure. Use belt tensioning gauge to adjust belt
tension at 120 ft. lbs.
