b) Check the brake pedal free play.

Push in the pedal by hand and check
that the pedal free play is within the
specification.

Pedal free play: 1 - 2 mm (0.04 - 0.08 in.)

c) Check brake pedal reserve distance.

Release the parking brake. With the
hybrid system running, depress the
brake pedal and measure the pedal
reserve distance.

Pedal reserve distance from tibia pad
at 490 N (50 kgf, 110 lbf): more than 73
mm (2.87 in.)

F04. HYBRID TRANSMISSION

OPERATION

a) Check that the hybrid system will not

start if the selector lever is in any range
except for “P” or “N”.

b) Check that the selector lever cannot be

moved from the “P” position without
depressing the brake pedal.

c) Check for smooth selector lever

operation when the selector lever
position is in the “S”.

Check that the engine braking
force decreases when the selector
lever is operated toward “+”.

Check that the engine braking
force increases when the selector
lever is operated toward “–”.

Check that figure displayed on the
indicator in the combination meter
changes when the selector lever is
operated toward “+” or “–”.
