COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
AC Circuit Breaker
Primary means of unit protection. Also main power On/Off switch.
Pilot Light
Indicator of AC main power on.
Dimmer Switch
Remote means of variable DC control (illumination). One 600 Watt (commercial brand)
Incandescent Dimmer switch (with ON/OFF) is provided with the MRIDC Dimmer.
Power Transformer
Provides line isolation and selectable power (adjustment) taps.
Adjustment Taps
Transformer secondary tap selection is necessary to insure proper output voltage, unit operation and to extend
lamp life. Tap selection must be based on the maximum load wattage (sum of the wattage of all lights
connected to the MRIDC Dimmer output and select the tap rated slightly greater than the wattage).
A minimum
30% load (of tap level) is required at all times. Improper tap selection may cause damage and will void the
manufacturer warranty. See the circuit diagram or tap rating charts below for tap wattages.
Rectification
Thyristor(SCR)/Diode packs provide Full-wave, phase controlled rectification. The power pack (SCR / Diode) is
the main component that converts AC to DC power.
Filter Capacitors
Electrolytic type capacitors oppose a change in voltage (reduces the AC RMS voltage) and with the filter choke
(inductor) reduces the AC component (known as ripple) on the DC output.
Filter Choke
The filter choke oppose a change in current and with the Electrolytic type capacitors reduces the AC component
(known as ripple) on the DC output.
Bleeder/Stability Resistors
Provides a path of discharge for the filter capacitors.
DC Output Fuse
A Time Delay fuse on the positive output provides rectifier and load wiring protection.
