If required, repeat steps 9 and 10 to reverse the
other movement direction .
11)
To delete the reversions, press the buttons
MODE and DEL (21) at the same time . All
LEDs will flash briefly to confirm the deletion;
RES00 00
will appear on the display .
If required, repeat steps 3 to 11 for further units .
12)
To exit the programming mode, keep the but-
ton PROGRAM / REC (10) pressed for 3 s . The
LED next to the button will extinguish .
5 Operation
Use the POWER switch (33) to switch on the con-
troller . The display briefly indicates the firmware
version . Then
Fixture Select
appears on
the display, prompting the user to select a light
effect unit (fixture) . It is possible to call up scenes
and programs the user has created with the DMX-
3216 and to call up predefined movement pat-
terns; however, the light effect units can also be
directly controlled by means of the sliders (4) .
After operation, use the POWER switch to
switch off the controller . If the controller is not
used for a longer period of time, disconnect the
power supply unit from the mains socket; the
power supply unit will have a low power con-
sumption even when the controller is switched
off .
5.1 Direct control
1) The LED above the button SCENE / FIXTURE
(5) must light up . If it does not light up or if it
flashes, press the button .
2) Use the number buttons (17) to select the
unit to be controlled . Multiple units may be
selected at the same time if they have the
same channel functions and if they are to be
controlled in the same way . When a unit has
been selected, the LED above the appropriate
number button will light up . To deselect a unit,
press its number button again .
3) Use the sliders (4) to make the adjustments
for the appropriate channels . The DMX value
supplied for the respective channel will appear
on the display, e . g .
DATA 255
.
Since a unit can have up to 32 channels,
four channels are assigned to each slider . The
level selected (A – D) defines the channel to be
controlled (
☞
lettering right above the slid-
ers) . The LEDs A – D (2) indicate the current
level . Use the button PAGE (3) to switch to
another level .
To set all channels of all units to the value
zero at the same time, use the button RE-
LEASE / CLEAR (23) .
4) For units with controllable movements (e . g .
moving head, scanner), the jog wheels PAN
(19) and TILT (22) can be used for a more con-
venient control of the pan and tilt movements .
For a more precise control, press the but-
ton FINE (18) so that the LED next to the but-
ton lights up . The values will then be changed
in steps of 1 .To exit the precise-control mode,
press the button again .
Direct control will always take priority
over programmed scenes (SCENE), automatic
programs (CHASE) and movement patterns
(MOVEMENT) . If a channel is directly con-
trolled while a program or movement pattern
is running, the manual adjustment will apply
starting at the moment it is made . To return
the control for all channels to the running pro-
gram or movement pattern, press the button
RELEASE / CLEAR .
5.1.1 Copying adjustments
Adjustments made for a light effect unit can be
adopted by other units (with the same channel
functions) .
1) The LED above the button SCENE / FIXTURE
(5) must light up . If it does not light up or if it
flashes, press the button .
2) While keeping the button MODE (20) pressed:
first press the number button (17) of the unit
to be copied (the LED above the unit will start
to flash), then press the buttons one after the
other for the units that are to adopt the ad-
justments . Each copy process will be confirmed
by a brief flash of all LEDs .
The LEDs of the units that have adopted
the adjustments will light up .
3) As long as the LED for a unit keeps flashing,
the adjustments of the unit can be copied to
other units . To exit the copy function, press
one of the number buttons .
