The emergency stop function of the PCSS monitors system and press brake conditions and will
initiate an emergency stop when certain conditions are met. An emergency stop condition can
occur if:
•
The emergency stop enable from the ISaGRAF user application has not been enabled via
the Kernel Software Interface (an input has been provided on channel 8 of the DO1 board);
•
A fault is detected by the PCSS within the valve monitoring or emergency stop function
options;
•
The level of the pressing beam is outside acceptable limits;
•
The emergency stop switch has been pressed.
The operation and connections for each of these options available on the PCSS are detailed
below.
When an emergency stop condition occurs, further down movement control of the press brake
is prevented and the auxiliary axis contactor or emergency stop output is switched off. The
type of emergency stop output being used is specific to the emergency stop option selected
and the Input / Output module installed.
I/O channel 10 of the ANO I/O board for the Kernel Software Interface allows the emergency
stop option required to be selected. Entering the appropriate value for the emergency stop
option selection variable as detailed in each of the options described below will initialise the
desired emergency stop option when the PCSS software is started.

Figure 4-7: Option 6 Door Switch (CN6 - FIO04 Connections)
connections available for the FIO04 module when monitoring the rear,
left and right doors on the press brake using the functionality for emergency stop option 6.
In this application, normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts from each of the
door switches are monitored with safety inputs on the PCSS unit. All doors should be closed
during normal operation.
The state of these inputs will determine how or if the press brake can be operated when used
in this application. If the rear or both the left and right doors are open, an emergency stop
situation would be invoked by the PCSS and no movement of the pressing beam would occur.
