4-1 TRACTOR PREPARATION

The Landoll Weatherproofer is used with trac-

tors equipped with drawbar hitches. Before attach-

ing the Weatherproofer, prepare the tractor as fol-

lows:

4-1.1

Inflate the rear tractor tires equally and

add ballast according to the tractor operator’s

manual.

4-1.2

Lock the tractor drawbar in the center

position.

IMPORTANT

FOR TRACK TYPE TRACTORS, IT MAY BE DE-

SIRABLE TO ALLOW THE HITCH TO SWING

WHEN IN THE FIELD. CHECK YOUR TRACTOR

MANUAL OR ASK YOUR TRACTOR DEALER.

4-2 WEATHERPROOFER PREPARATION

4-2.1

Prior to operating the Weatherproofer,

inspect it thoroughly.

4-2.2

Replace worn or missing parts.

4-2.3

When the machine is new, check the

bolt tightness after a few hours of operation.

Tighten any loose nuts or bolts. Check the

gauge wheel lug bolts daily.

4-2.4

Check the gauge wheel tire inflation. In-

flate all tires equally to avoid side draft. Fol-

low the tire manufacturer’s recommended

pressures listed on the sidewall of the tires.

4-2.5

Adjust the disc gangs following the pro-

cedure below:

a.

Raise the disc gangs to the full up position,

cylinders retracted.

b.

Adjust rear disc gang radius rods for a 1/8"

clearance between the disc gang frame 4x6

tube and the angle adjust brackets on the

main frame. Rear disc gangs should always

be at this adjustment.

c.

Front disc gangs may be adjusted to the

same depth as the rear gangs or adjusted to

run deeper than the rear gangs by adjusting

the front disc gang radius rods.

CAUTION

WHEN ADJUSTING DISC SCRAPER,

AVOID BODILY CONTACT WITH DISC

BLADES. SCRAPERS MUST BE PROP-

ERLY ADJUSTED TO PREVENT DAM-

AGE TO THE MACHINE.

4-2.6

Check disc scrapers for proper clear-

ance against the disc blade.

a.

Loosen the U-bolts holding the scraper

mount bracket to the scraper tube.

b.

Slide the scraper assembly to adjust for a

1/8" to 1/4" clearance to the disc blades.

c.

Tighten the U-bolts.

4-2.7

Lubricate the machine as shown in

Paragraph 4-6 (See Figure 4-2).

4-3 ATTACHING TO THE TRACTOR

4-3.1

Align the tractor drawbar with the ma-

chine. Raise or lower the Weatherproofer

hitch, as needed, using the swivel jack. At-

tach the unit with proper size hitch pin.

4-3.2

Clean all hydraulic couplings and attach

to the tractor. When properly attached, the

hydraulic control lever should cause the

Weatherproofer to:

a.

Lower to the ground when the control arm is

moved forward or downward, and

b.

Raise when the control arm is moved back-

ward or upward.

4-3.3

Fully extend the hydraulic gauge wheel

cylinders, and place the cylinder lockouts in

the transport lock position over the cylinder

rods. Secure the lockouts with the lockout

pins.

4-3.4

Always place the swivel jack on the in-

terior mount before setting the machine in

motion.
