Slip the 3/4" x 8-1/2" cap screws through the
holes pro
vided for them in the mount
ing
brack ets.
b.
Place the up
per bear
ing halves (with the
grease zerk in the side) on top of the rock -
shaft with grease zerks away from the gauge
wheel arms. There are five bear
ing as
sem
-
blies for the rock shaft.
c.
Use a hoist or fork lift to raise the rock shaft.
Use the cap screws to guide the rock
shaft
and top bear ing halves into place.

Set a lower bear ing half (with a grease
zerk be tween the bolt holes) un der the rock -
shaft and through the hang
ing ends of the
cap screws.

cure each set of bear
ings tight
enough to the rock shaft to hold the as sem bly
to
gether. Use the wash
ers and lock
ing nuts
pro vided.

In
sert the rock
shaft shims, as needed,
be tween each set of bear ings. Use the shims
to al low the rock shaft to ro tate freely, yet not
loosely, in the bear
ing halves. Re
peat this
step for each set of bear
ings. Then tighten
the cap screws.

In stall the hub and spin dle in the walk -
ing beam an se
cure with bolts & nuts pro
-
vided.

Mount the tires on the wheel rims and

sem
ble to the hubs. Tighten wheel bolts
evenly to as
sure proper wheel align
ment.
Wheel bolts should be tight ened to 90 ft- lbs
of torque. The hoist can then be re moved.

The open end of the lock outs should be over
the gauge wheel arms with the U-
shaped
cut out on the op po site end fac ing up wards.
