9.4 PROBE VERIFICATION & CALIBRATION
Probe is a complete device. It has three major parts:
a. 2.5MHz transducer on top, transmitting and receiving
ultrasound signals;
b. Slave motor which continuously swings at 120
0
during
scan;
c. Main motor which runs 180
0
for each scan, with every
15 0 interval.
A. Initial Inspection
Check the probe for any cracks, oil leakage or any physical
scratches.
Hold probe close to your ear, push and hold the switch, you can
hear and feel the probe slave motor running. Slave motor will
continuously swing at 120
0 . The good probe shall run smoothly
and quickly without noise or abnormal vibration.
Release the switch, the main motor starts a 180
0
rotation, with
every 15 0 interval. At same time, slave motor keeps swinging.
The good probe shall run smoothly and quickly without noise or
abnormal vibration.
