Cylinder Head and Tappet
1. Remove the cylinder head screws in the order of [10] or [14] to [1]
and remove the cylinder head.
2. Remove the cylinder head gasket and O-ring (1).
3. Remove the tappets (2) from the crankcase.
(When reassembling)
• Replace the cylinder head gasket with a new one.
• Before installing the tappets (2), apply engine oil thinly around
them.
• Install the cylinder head, using care not to damage the O-ring (1).
• Tighten the cylinder head screw gradually screw in the order of
[1] to [10] or [14] after applying engine oil.
• Retighten the cylinder head screw after running the engine for 30
minutes.
NOTE
• Mark the cylinder number to the tappets to prevent
interchanging.
• When reusing the head bolt, apply engine oil to its thread
(when use a new head bolt "rust-preventive oil applied" use
it without applying engine oil to it) and seat surface before
fitting it. After installing the engine, let it run for 30 minutes,
and retighten the head bolt. (Before retightening it loosen it
by 0.52 to 0.79 rad (30 to 90 °).)

Valves
1. Remove the valve caps (2).
2. Remove the valve spring collet (3), pushing the valve spring
retainer (4) by valve spring replacer (1).
3. Remove the valve spring retainer (4), valve spring (5) and valve
stem seal (6).
4. Remove the valve (7).
(When reassembling)
• Wash the valve stem seal and valve guide hole, and apply engine
oil sufficiently.
• After installing the valve spring collets, lightly tap the stem to
assure proper fit with a plastic hammer.
IMPORTANT
• Do not change the combination of valve and valve guide.
