11.1.3 Wake On LAN (WOL)

1. Comments:
To awaken a PC in stand-by mode (that means only shut down the Windows OS, then the green LED is blinking)
over the network, a so called "Magic Packet" must be sent to the LAN interface. There are various tools for
sending Magic Packets.
2. Requirements:
a. MPC20WOL or MPC21WOL with LAN drivers installed
b. MAC address is known (this can be read out on Windows XP with IPCONFIG / ALL)
c. The host PC has a LAN connection and the WOL.EXE tool (on DIGITAL-LOGIC AG’s Product CD)
3. Preparation:
In Windows XP, open the Device Manager / Network adapters and then the Properties of the "Intel(R) PRO/100
M Network Connection".
