5.1.
Opening and Closing the KBox A-103
Before opening the KBox A-103, the system must be switched off and disconnected from the
main power supply. Also, disconnect all peripheral devices from the KBox A-103. Before you
begin, ensure that you have a clean, flat and ESD-safe surface to work on.
For opening and closing the KBox A-103, please perform the following steps:
1.
Close all applications. Shut down the system properly and disconnect the connection to the main power source.
Disconnect all peripherals.

The KBox A-103 should lay on a flat, clean surface with the access cover (Figure 14, pos. 6) facing upwards.
3.
Loosen and remove the eight torx screws (Figure 14, pos. 2), that secure the access cover to the chassis. Retain
the screws for later use.

Lift the access cover up as shown in the picture below (Figure 24). In order to remove the access cover you have
to disconnect the cables of the SSD drive and of the optional lithium battery, if available (refer to Figure 25, pos. 2,
pos. 10 and pos. 11).

Now you have access to the internal SIM, mPCIe and mSATA slots or cards, respectively SSD in order to remove or
install hardware components. Also you can configure according to your requirements the serial ports COM 2
(X204) and COM 3 (X206).

For closing replace carefully power and data cables of the SSD (if installed) and the access cover to the system
and screw it on with the retained screws.
7.
Tighten the retained screws when the cover is firmly in place.
When used as intended, the KBox A-103 is to operate only in closed condition.
Only when the access cover (Figure 25) is properly fixed with the screws (Figure 14, pos. 2)
and the rear side with GPIO-port and/or WLAN antennas (available on KBox A-103 as
desktop unit or equipped with horizontal/vertical wallmount brackets, refer to Figure 19 and
Figure 20) are properly installed and secured with the screws (Figure 19 and Figure 20, pos.
5), it is ensured that the user does not have access to the internal parts of the KBox A-103.
