1. Ensure that no power is applied to the CP3003-SA and disconnect any interfacing cables

that may be connected to the board before proceeding.

2. Remove the front panel by unscrewing the following screws that are retaining the front

panel to the CP3003-SA board:
• (a) and (b) near the VGA connector on the front panel
• (c) and (d) near the XMC slot on the front panel
• (e) and (f) on the board’s solder side near the front panel
Please refer to Figure 3-6 for the location of the above-mentioned screws.

3. Remove the CP3003-XMC from the CP3003-SA by unscrewing the (g), (h), (i) and (j) screws

shown in Figure 3-6.

4. Turn the XMC module component-side down, align its XMC connector with the CP3003-

XMC’s XMC connector, J1, and gently press down.

5. Secure the XMC module to the CP3003-XMC by inserting the four screws (k), (l), (m),

and (n) supplied with the XMC module through the CP3003-XMC’s mounting holes into
the XMC module’s standoffs and tightening them.
Please refer to Figure 3-7 for the location of the above-mentioned mounting holes.

6. Align the board-to-board connectors, J5 and J6, on the CP3003-XMC with the board-to-

board connectors, J8 and J14, on the CP3003-SA and gently press down. 
Please refer to Figure 3-8 for further information on this instruction.

7. Secure the CP3003-XMC equipped with the XMC module to the CP3003-SA by inserting

the screws (g), (h), (i) and (j) removed in step 3 into the respective mounting holes and
tightening them.
Please refer to Figure 3-8 for further information on this instruction.

8. Remove the XMC slot cover plate from the XMC bezel cutout of the CP3003-SA front

panel, if mounted.

9. Attach the front panel to the board assembly and secure it with the screws (a), (b), (c),

(d), (e), and (f) removed in step 2. 
If the XMC module is provided with a rubber seal at the bezel, ensure that the rubber seal
is properly seated between the bezel and the front panel cutout when attaching the front
panel.

The 8 HP CP3003-SA equipped with the CP3003-XMC extension module and the XMC module
is now ready for operation (see Figure 3-9). For the operation of the XMC module, refer to ap-
propriate documentation provided with the XMC module.

Warning!

Even though power may be removed from the system, the CP3003-SA
front panel cables and, when installed, the RIO transition module front pan-
el cables may have power applied which comes from an external source.

In addition, these cables may be connected to devices that can be dam-
aged by electrostatic discharging or short-circuiting of pins.

It is the responsibility of the system designer or integrator to ensure that
appropriate measures are taken to preclude damage to the system or in-
jury to personnel which may arise from the handling of these cables (con-
necting or disconnecting).

Kontron disclaims all liability for damages or injuries resulting from failure
