6.12 REAR EQUIPMENT MECHANI-
CAL QUICK COUPLING DEVICE
WARNING
q
The work equipment coupling and uncoupling operatio
must be carried out on a firm and level surface.
q
The method described is valid for any rear equipme
whose operation does not require the use of pressuriz
oil.
q
Before starting work, make sure that the coupling pins a
completely engaged in the equipment seats.
The mechanical quick coupling device (1) of the rear equipm
has been developed by Komatsu to facilitate the coupling and
copuling of the various pieces of equipment.
It is a practical and user-friendly device and therefore it consid
ably reduces the time required to change the equipment.
The quick coupling device (1) also allows various type of equ
ment to be easily connected to the machine, for example: spec
buckets, drills, hydraulic hammers or other equipment, provid
that it is authorized by Komatsu.
If necessary, the bucket can be attached to the quick coupling
even in reversed position, as shown in Fig. A.
For the assembly or disassembly of the quick coupling device
on/from the backhoe arm, keep to the indications given in pa
graph "3.13.4.1 CHANGING THE BACKHOE BUCKET".
The quick coupling device (1) features (like for a simple digg
bucket) two different positions for the coupling to the backh
which can be selected according to the operation to be perform
and to the equipment to be used:
q
Pos.1: Normal digging position
q
Pos.2: Indicated for operations on vertical walls, ensures
maximum swing and the maximum digging height along walls
IMPORTANT
q
The slot (C) serves for the insertion of the release lever a
must always be positioned on the outside of the machi
as shown in Fig. B.
For any further information, see "6.12.1 EQUIPMENT CO
PLING AND RELEASE PROCEDURE".
