Before applying pow er
Please read all of t he saf et y and operat ing inst ruct ions
bef ore operat ing t his appliance. Adhere to all w arnings
on the appliance and in the instruction manual. Follow all the
safety and operating instructions. These saf et y and
operat ing inst ruct ions should be ret ained f or f ut ure
ref erence.
1. Pow er sources – The appliance should be connected
to a pow er supply only of the type described in the
instruction manual or as marked on the appliance. If you
are not sure of the type of pow er supply to your home,
consult your appliance dealer or local pow er company.
For appliances intended to operate from battery pow er,
or other sources, refer to the instruction manual.
2. Pow er-cord prot ect ion – Pow er-supply cords
should be rout ed so t hat t hey are not likely t o be
w alked on or pinched by it em s placed upon or
against t hem , paying part icular at t ent ion t o cords
at plugs, convenience recept acles, and t he point
w here t hey exit f rom t he appliance.

CAU TION
– Polarizat ion – This appliance may
be equipped w ith a polarized alternating-current line
plug (a plug having one blade w ider than the other). This
plug w ill fit into the pow er outlet only one w ay. This is
a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully
into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should
still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your
obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the
polarized plug.
4. V ent ilat ion – Slots and openings in the cabinet are
provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation
of the appliance and to protect it from overheating, and
these openings must not be blocked or covered. The
appliance should be situated so that its location or
position does not interfere w ith its proper ventilation.
To maintain good ventilation, do not put records or a
table-cloth on the appliance. Place the appliance at least
10 cm aw ay from the w alls.
Do not use the appliance on a bed, sofa, rug or similar
surface that may block the ventilation openings. This
appliance should not be placed in a built-in installation
such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is
provided or the manufacturer’s instructions have been
adhered to.
5. W at er and m oist ure – The appliance should not
be used near w at er - f or exam ple, near a bat ht ub,
w ashbow l, kit chen sink, laundry t ub, in a w et
basem ent , or near a sw im m ing pool, et c.
6. Tem perat ure – The appliance m ay not f unct ion
properly if used at ext rem ely low , or f reezing
t em perat ures. The ideal am bient t em perat ure is
above + 5°C (41°F).

7. Heat – The appliance should be sit uat ed aw ay
f rom heat sources such as radiat ors, heat regist ers,
st oves, or ot her appliances (including am plif iers)
t hat produce heat .
8. Elect ric shock – Care should be t aken so t hat
object s do not f all and liquid is not spilled int o t he
enclosure t hrough openings. If a m et al object s,
such as a hair pin or a needle, com es int o cont act
w it h t he inside of t his appliance, a dangerous
elect ric shock m ay result . For f am ilies w it h
children, never perm it children t o put anyt hing,
especially m et al, inside t his appliance.
9. Enclosure rem oval – Never rem ove t he enclosure.
If t he int ernal part s are t ouched accident ally, a
serious elect ric shock m ight occur.
10. M agnet ic fields – Keep t he appliance aw ay f rom
sources of m agnet ic f ields such as TV set s, speaker
syst em s, radios, m ot orized t oys or m agnet ized
object s.
11. Cleaning – Unplug t his appliance f rom t he w all
out let bef ore cleaning. Do not use volat ile solvent s
such as alcohol, paint t hinner, gasoline, or benzine,
et c. t o clean t he cabinet . Use a clean dry clot h.
12. Accessories – Do not place this appliance on an unstable
cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The appliance may
fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious
damage to the appliance. Use only w ith a cart, stand,
t ripod, bracket , or t able recom m ended by t he
manufacturer, or sold w ith the appliance. Any mounting
of the appliance should follow the manufacturer’s
instructions, and should use a mounting accessory
recommended by the manufacturer. An appliance and
cart combination should be moved w ith care. Quick
stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause
the appliance and cart combination to overturn.
13. Lightning – For added protection for this appliance
during a lightning storm, or w hen it is left unattended
and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the
w all outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system.
This w ill prevent damage to the appliance due to lightning
and pow er-line surges.
14. Abnorm al sm ell – If an abnorm al sm ell or sm oke
is det ect ed, im m ediat ely t urn t he pow er OFF and
unplug the appliance from the w all outlet. Cont act
your dealer or nearest service cent er.
