RIMS
Check before each ride if wheels are centred correctly and rims are not damaged. There could
appear grooves and cracks by using bicycle or they could be caused by blast. Side areas of
rim are getting worn up by braking. There is security system on each rim side which indicates
deformation on side of rim. Bent side area of rim is mark of worn up which causes self-acting
braking. Riding such damaged rims is dangerous and damaged rim must be replaced!
TIRES
Never ride on over or under inflated tires. Respect recommended pressures, which are shown
on sides of each tire. Calculation of pressure measurement units mentioned on tires follows:
100kPa = 14.22 P.S.I. = 1 bar = 1 at
FRAME AND FORK
Check regulary, if the frame and fork of your bike, are not damaged. Damage of the frame or
fork is mainly caused by accidents and falls. Stop using such damaged frame or fork, you risk
serious injury!
SUSPENSION FORK
If you have a suspension fork on your bike, follow next steps:
FORK SET UP
A unit for the stiffness set up of the fork is located on the top part of fork legs. Turning the unit
clockwise you make the fork stiffer, turning it counterclockwise you make the fork less stiff.
FORK LOCKOUT
Some of suspension forks have a hydraulic system of the fork‘s suspension lockout. The fork‘s
suspension lockout allows to reduce pumping when pedaling (for example riding uphill, or
sprints). There is a turn button on the right side of the fork, turn it to lock the suspension.
Another turn will release the lockout, and the suspension is again fully functional.
FORK‘S MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
- regular maintenance is important for correct functionability of the fork, mainly
friction surfaces between inner and outer legs of the fork. Dust sealents, gaskets and rubber
seals, which protect friction surfaces from dirt, may not be damaged and have to protect the
friction surface all around. Keep the sliding surface of inner legs clean, wipe all the dirt or
moisture with soft cloth and lubricate gently, after every ride.
For the fork‘s outer cleaning
use a detergent solution and a soft brush. Make sure that the water does not penetrate
into the gap between inner and outer legs. Moisture and dirt inside of the fork have
negative influence on friction surfaces, so there is a higher wear of individual parts of
the fork.
LUBRICATION
- the fork is delivered with a grease layer inside of the suspension system,
which is necessary to keep on, or change a dirty one for a new one. Follow next steps for a
perfect condition of the fork.
•
Every 8 - 10 ride hours (or always after a ride in extreme conditions, or wet and mud):
1. Rise the rubber sealents on inner legs, clean inner legs and the gasket and lubricate
the gasket with teflon oil.
2. Check if all the screws on the fork are firmly tightened.
•
Every 25 - 30 ride hours (or always after a ride in extreme conditions, or wet and mud):
1. Disassemble the fork, clean all the parts from grease - always use original tools
for disassembling.
2. Check possible damage of all the parts - if you find out that some parts are
damaged, change them for new original parts. Never ride your bike with a
damaged frok!
3. Put a new coat of grease on cases, gaskets and inner legs and assemble the fork.
Preserve all rubber parts with silicon oil.
WARNING
Use teflon oil and lubricants with teflon and silicone for fork lubrication. Do not use
lubricants with lithium, they can damage some inner parts of the fork.
In case of more
complicated services, such as the fork‘s disassembly, changeover of cases and so on, we
advise you to contact a specialized bike service.
AUXILIARY WHEELS
If your bicycle is equipped with auxiliary wheels, then these wheels for the bicycle are delivered
disassembled. Therefore it is necessary to assemble and mount the wheels before using.
Plastic bag supplied with the holders of auxiliary wheels includes:
- 2 long screws
- 6 washers
- 2 serrated washers
- 2 common nuts
- 2 safety nuts (with plastic insert)
* Assembling wheel
Proceed as follows:
1. Slide the washer on the screw, then slide the wheel and slide another washer on the other side of
the wheel.
