MS224 CPUKON comes installed on the cabinet. However, if it is necessary to take
out MS224 CPUKON from the cabinet, at first the plastic card holder residing on the
front part must be removed by pressing the top and bottom locks on the card holder
towards the label. After that, the screws fixing the card to the top and bottom front
parts of the system rack must be loosened. The card then may be pulled out, as
described above for CPU224. Later on, the card can be inserted back in the
cabinet, applying exactly the same method in the reverse order.
To attach the cables of the accessories to the connectors on MS224 CPUKON
card, at first the plastic card holder on the front part must be removed by pressing
the top and bottom locks on the card holder towards the label. After that, the cable
must be passed through the cable hole on the bottom front part of the system rack
and attached to the related connector. Then, the free end of the cable must be
passed in between the bottom rack and bottom cover and taken out of the cabinet
through the corresponding hole at the metal cable holder fixed to the rear cover.
The plastic card holder may be then placed and fastened by the plastic lock
mechanism.
II.4. EXPANSION MODULES
MS224 EX1 consists of MS224 EX1B and CON1 cards. Similarly, MS224 EX2
includes MS224 EX2B and CON2 cards. MS224 EX1B and CON1 cards are
packed in the same cardboard box, although they are not connected to each other.
The same also applies to MS224 EX2B and CON2 cards.
The 16-pair MDF cables, named CBL-16, are optional items, as they may be
obtained from KAREL or procured locally. In the former case, CBL-16 comes as
attached to CON1 or CON2 card. In the latter case, CBL-16 must be connected to
CON1 or CON2 card, as the first step of installation.
The CON1 or CON2 connection card– as CBL-16 already connected - must be
attached to MS224 EX1B and MS224 EX2B cards. The connection is established
via the two 20-pin connectors on the component side CON1 or CON2 and the
corresponding female ones on the component side of MS224 EX1B or MS224
EX2B. These connectors match each other in such a way that CON1 or CON2
lays on the component side of MS224 EX1B or MS224 EX2B, as covered by the
plastic card holder of MS224 EX1 or MS224 EX2, respectively.
Once CON1 or CON2 is mounted on MS224 EX1B or MS224 EX2B, you can
continue with the installation of MS224 EX1 and MS224 EX2 modules inside the
system cabinet.
The first step is, to take out the bottom cover of the system.
