Active power limitation
The function P set is intrinsically integrated in PV inverters in the MPP-tracking of the inverter. The P set value is con-
stantly recalculated based on the MPP tracking algorithm.
P limit
The function "P limit" is available limiting the maximum infeed power. If necessary, this can be used to reduce the in-feed
of an inverter e.g. for congestion management of the distribution system operator.
P limit is available via MODBUS/SunSpec inverter model 123
WMaxLimPct
and RS485 communication only. For detailed
information on the communication protocol please refer to the download section at
“Software”.
At reception of a P limit set value, the output power of the inverter is limited to the specified power value. If the limit
value is changed, the new value is adopted by way of a filter and a gradient limit. The actual power may be below the con-
figured limit value as the available power (PV), set power value (Storage) respectively may be below the configured limit
value. Depending on the inverter series, the settling time and gradient limit are adjustable.
Power limitation
[
WMaxLimPct
]
0 – 100 [%]
Specifies the standard power in
the event of a communication
failure. If no active power com-
mand is received within the
configured timeout, the in-
verter sets the power to the
configured fallback power.
Timeout
[
WMaxLimPct_RvrtTms]
3 – 100000 [%]
Specifies the timeout period
until the inverter reverts to fall
back power in case of loss of
communication.
Increasing output gradient
[
WMaxLimPct_RmpTms
]
&
Decreasing output gradient
[
OutPFSet_RmpTms
]
1 – 65534 [% °S
max
° /°min]
Specifies the dynamic behav-
iour at change of active power
set point. The active power is
changed with the specified gra-
dient.
NOTE: The gradient is super-
imposed with the settling
time.
Settling time
[
VArPct_RmpTms]
200 – 60000 [ms]
Specifies the dynamic behav-
iour at change of active power
set point. The active power is
changed according a PT-1 char-
acteristic with a settling time
equal to 5 Tau.
NOTE: The settling time is su-
perimposed with the increase
and decrease gradient.
If the applicable grid code requires the active power response to set point by a defined gradient or settling time, the de-
vice can be configured to comply with this gradient. It is also possible to implement the gradient in the plant control sys-
tem. This second solution must be applied for all other inverters.
Power gradients limitation
The power reduction parameters can be adjusted in SunSpec model DID123. During this process, you should also check
whether internal and/or external power reduction is active.
