Locking the Unit
The JX-MP256FM has a HOLD function which, when active, prevents any

The HOLD function is activated by sliding the HOLD switch (see page 3) to the left.
Once done, the HOLD function icon appears briefly.
When active, the HOLD function may be used to prevent:
an unintended button press from turning the unit ON (say, while it was OFF in your
pocket)
an accidental interruption of any music being played, or a voice recording from
being completed

Software Installation (Windows 98/98SE)
Your JX-MP256FM comes with a single CD-ROM containing small software programs,

once the two units are connected.
Note:

Windows Me, it is NOT necessary to install any drivers from the CD-ROM, as
these operating systems are already equipped with the necessary software. Use
the CD-ROM ONLY for installations in Windows 98 and 98/SE.
Note: Do NOT connect your JX-MP256FM to your Windows 98/98SE PC until after the
drivers are installed (see page 20 for connection instructions).
Installing Windows 98 and 98SE Drivers
1. With your PC on, and Windows running, insert the CD-ROM driver disc into your

Start button (usually at the lower left), click once on Run.., and enter the word
Setup
in the Open: field. Then click on OK.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions until the driver is successfully installed. Once
done, you will be asked to restart your PC.
4. After the PC has rebooted, you can connect the JX-MP256FM, as described on
page 20.
