P laying MP 3 /WMA/WAV files
• This unit can play back files with the extension
code <.mp3>, <.wma>, or <.wav> (regardless of
the letter case—upper/lower).
• This unit can play back files that meet the
conditions below:
– Bit rate:
MP 3/ WMA : 32 kbps — 320 kbps
– S ampling frequency:
48 k H z, 44.1 k H z, 32 k H z (for MPEG 1)
24 k H z, 22.05 k H z, 16 k H z (for MPEG 2)
48 k H z, 44.1 k H z, 32 k H z, 22.05 k H z (for WMA )
44.1 k H z (for WAV )
• This unit can show ID 3 Tag V ersion
1.0/1.1/2.2/2.3/2.4 (for MP 3).
• This unit can also show WAV / WMA Tag.
• This unit can play back files recorded in V B R
(variable bit rate).
• F iles recorded in V B R have a discrepancy in
elapsed time indication.
• This unit cannot play back the following files:
– MP 3 files encoded with MP 3i and MP 3 PRO
format.
– MP 3 files encoded with L ayer 1/2.
– WMA files encoded with lossless, professional,
and voice format.
– WMA files which are not based upon W indows
M edia® A udio.
– WMA files copy - protected with DRM .
• This unit can display jacket pictures that meet the
conditions below:
– P icture size: 32 x 32 to 1 232 x 672 resolution

Code Error” appears on the screen.

DVD-R recorded in multi-border format is also playable (except for
dual layer discs). DVD-RW dual layer discs are not playable.

discs. “DVD” is selected as the disc type when a +R/+RW disc is
loaded. +RW double layer discs are not playable.
U nplayable discs
• U nplayable disc types and formats are as follows:
– DVD-A udio/ DVD-ROM discs
– MPEG 4/ AAC / DVD-VR / DVD + VR / DVD-RAM
recorded in the DVD-R / RW or + R /+ RW
– D T S-CD , SVCD ( S uper V ideo CD ), CD-ROM , CD-I
( CD-I R eady)
– D ivX/ MPEG 4/ AAC recorded in the CD-R / RW
• D iscs that are not round.
• D iscs with coloring on the recording surface or
discs that are dirty.
• R ecordable/ R ewritable discs that have not been
finalized.
• 8 cm discs. A ttempting to insert using an adapter
may cause malfunction.
D ual D isc playback
The N on -DVD side of a “ D ual D isc” does not comply
with the “ C ompact D isc D igital A udio” standard.
Therefore, the use of N on -DVD side of a D ual D isc on
this product cannot be recommended.
