console. To use a laptop, modem, or other auxiliary device, connect it to the

AUXILIARY

port on the TX-CIP that corresponds to the master host subsystem. Both ports accept
an RS-232 (EIA-232) serial cable with DB-9 connectors.

NOTE:

If your TX Matrix router contains two host subsystems, we recommend

that you connect each TX-CIP to the system console.

To connect the cables for a management console or auxiliary device:

Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect
the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.

If necessary, turn off the power to the console or auxiliary device.

Connect the female end (shown in Figure 67 on page 120) of a serial cable into the
appropriate

AUXILIARY

port on

TX-CIP-0

(see Figure 68 on page 121).

This port connects to the Routing Engine in the upper Routing Engine slot (
