Attach the power cable to the DC power source (for SRX240 Services Gateway with
DC power supply model). Ensure that the DC power source is connected according
to the guidelines recommended in
“Connecting the SRX240 Services Gateway DC
Power Supply Model to a DC Power Source” on page 70 .

The services gateway starts up as the power supply completes its startup sequence.
The Power LED glows during startup and remains on steadily when the services
gateway is operating normally.
NOTE: After the power supply is turned on, it can take up to 60 seconds for
status indicators—such as the Status and Power LEDs on the front panel of
chassis to show that the power supply is functioning normally.
NOTE: We recommend that you issue the CLI command request system
power-off when you want to power off the device immediately after the device
is powered on.
Powering Off the SRX240 Services Gateway
You can power off the services gateway in one of the following ways:
• Graceful shutdown—Press and immediately release the Power button. The device
begins gracefully shutting down the operating system and then powers itself off.
WARNING: Use the graceful shutdown method to power off or reboot the
services gateway.
• Forced shutdown—Press the Power button and hold it for 10 seconds. The device
immediately powers itself off without shutting down the operating system.
WARNING: Use the forced shutdown method as a last resort to recover
the services gateway if the services gateway operating system is not
responding to the graceful shutdown method.
WARNING: Do not press the Power button while the services gateway is
shutting down.
CAUTION: Forced shutdown can result in data loss and corruption of the file
system.
