and returning the switch to its original position. After use, wind up the power cord and store the device in
a safe place.
Note: Hair may collect beneath the clipping head in the front section of the casing (Fig. D). Lift off the
clipping head and remove the hair using a small brush.
Fitting the clipping head
Place the clipping head on the trimmer mount (Fig. E). Put on the trimmer and move the blade towards
the trimmer to lock it in position.
MAINTENANCE
The device is permanently lubricated at the factory before delivery. Unless specified in these instructions,
all maintenance must be carried out by the manufacturer or an approved service engineer.
Maintaining the clipping head
Oil the clipping head before, during and after every use. If the trimmer blades leave stripes or move
slowly, the clipping head must be oiled. Drip a little oil on the front and side of the clipping head (Fig. F).
Wipe off excess oil using a soft, dry cloth. Spray lubricants contain too little oil to lubricate well, but they
are excellent for cooling the blades. Always replace broken or notched blades to prevent injury. Remove
hair from the clipping head using a small brush or old toothbrush. Clean the blades by moving the clipping
head down in a thin layer of trimmer oil while the trimmer is running. Hair and dirt collected between the
blades should work loose. Switch off the trimmer after cleaning and clean the blades using a clean, dry
cloth. If the blades still do not cut cleanly, this may be because fine hairs have become trapped between
the upper and lower blade. If so, remove the clipping head from the trimmer. Then move the upper blade
to one side without undoing the tension spring or moving the upper blade away from the tension spring
completely (Fig. G). Wipe the surface between the blades using a dry cloth, then drip on a little trimmer oil
at the point where the upper and lower blades meet and in the guide opening for the tension spring (Fig.
G). Move the upper blade to the opposite side of the lower blade and repeat. Place the upper blade
directly over the lower one. Hold and store the trimmer with the clipping head down so that no excess oil
runs into the casing.
Replacing the drive mechanism
If the trimmer blades do not cut cleanly (check by using more than one clipping head as these may be
blunt), the drive mechanism for the clipping head may need to be replaced.
1.
Remove the clipping head (Fig. H).
2.
Remove the cover (Fig. I).
3.
Remove the attaching screw for the drive mechanism (Fig. J).
4.
Remove the drive mechanism (Fig. K).
5.
Move the drive bearing to its lowest position with your finger (Figs. L and M). Fit the new drive
mechanism, match the screw holes and press down (Fig. K).
6.
Secure the drive mechanism using the attaching screws (Fig. J).
7.
Replace the cover (Fig. I).
8.
Replace the clipping head (Fig. N).
Note!
Check how the drive mechanism is positioned before removing it to make it easier when re-fitting.
