Electromagnetic field can cause pacemaker malfunction

Confined and damp areas

Insulating mats and spacers must be used when working in confined, damp or hot areas. Gauntlet
type gloves made of leather or other insulating material must also be worn to protect the body from
earthing.

When using the welding transformer in electrically hazardous conditions, e.g. in confined spaces
with electrically conductive walls (boilers, pipes etc.), in wet areas (soaking of work clothes), in hot
areas (sweating of work clothes), the open-circuit output voltage on the welding transformer must
not be higher than 48 V (effective value). This welding transformer has an output voltage of exactly
48 V and may therefore be used in such conditions.
Protective clothing

The welder must wear full-body protection with suitable protective clothing and face protection to
provide protection from radiation and burn injuries.

Protect both hands with gauntlet type gloves of a suitable material (leather). The gloves must be in
good condition.

Protect clothes from showering sparks and burn injuries with a suitable apron. When necessary, e.g.
when welding above head height, a protective suit and helmet must be worn.
Protection from radiation and burn injuries

Set up a warning sign (Danger Welding in Progress) at the workplace. Set up a warning sign
(Danger Do not look directly at the welding flame) to protect the eyes. The workplace must as far
as possible be screened off to protect persons in the near vicinity. Keep other people at a safe
distance from the welding area.

Walls in the immediate vicinity of stationary welding areas must not be bright or reflecting.
Windows, at least to head height, must be non-transparent and non-radiation-reflective, e.g.
painted with suitable paint.
