SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the Operating Instructions carefully before use!
Important references
Read the operating instructions carefully and follow these instructions. The operating instructions
provide information on the welding transformer, its correct usage and the applicable safety
instructions.
The safety instructions must be studied and followed unconditionally.
WARNING!
The welding transformer must only be used for its intended purpose in accordance with these
operating instructions.
Incorrect handling of this welding transformer can result in danger to persons, animals and
property. The user of the welding transformer is responsible for his own safety and the safety of
other persons, and must therefore read and follow the safety instructions below.
Repairs and/or maintenance work must only be carried out by a qualified technician.
Only use the supplied welding cables (Ø 16 mm2 of rubber).
The welding transformer must be disposed off in a proper manner.
When in operation, the welding transformer must stand directly against a wall, not covered or
wedged between other equipment, so that a sufficient volume of air can always pass through the
vents. Check that the welding transformer is correctly connected to the mains. Avoid straining the
power cord. Pull out the power plug from the mains before setting up the welding transformer in
another position.
Check the condition of the welding cables, electrode holder and earth clamps; wear on insulating
and live parts can cause unwanted risks and have an adverse effect on the welding quality.
Do not weld containers, vessels or pipes that contain, or have contained, flammable liquids or
gases. Avoid any direct contact with the welding current circuit; open circuit voltage between the
electrode holder and earth clamp can be dangerous. Risk of electric shock.
The welding transformer must not be stored or used in damp or wet areas, or in the rain.
Arc welding produces sparks, melted metal parts and smoke. For this reason, follow the
instructions below:
Remove all combustible substances and/or materials from the work area and its immediate vicinity.
Make sure that there is an adequate air supply.
Protect the eyes with eye protection intended for this purpose (DIN safety class 9
–10), which must
be fastened on the supplied welding shield. Wear gloves and dry protective clothing that is free
from oil and grease so that the skin is not exposed to the UV radiation in the arc.
NOTE!
Arc radiation can damage the eyes and cause burn injuries on the skin.
Arc welding produces sparks and drops of melted metal. The welded workpiece starts to glow and
stays very hot for a relatively long time. For this reason, do not touch the workpiece with your bare
hands.
Arc welding releases hazardous fumes; avoid inhaling these fumes.
Protect yourself from the dangerous effects of the arc. Keep unauthorised persons at least 15
metres away from the arc.
WARNING!
Depending on the mains conditions, operation of the welding transformer can result in interference to the
voltage supply to other users. Contact your electricity supplier if necessary.
Risks during arc welding
There are several sources of potential risks during arc welding. It is therefore very important for the
welder to follow the instructions below to safeguard his own safety and the safety of others, and to
prevent personal injury and material damage.
All work on the mains voltage supply, e.g. cables, contacts, outlets etc. must only be carried out by
an authorised electrician.
Pull out the welding transformer mains plug immediately in the event of an accident.
