General Use
The battery pack for the Powercap and Powercap ip can be worn on the belt using the clip
provided, or placed in the pocket, making certain that the cable does not protrude or loop out
excessively to avoid snagging. When not in use the battery should be switched off and/or the
plugs disconnected to conserve the batteries. Avoid storage of the battery compartment in
low temperature conditions, 5°C or lower, as this will have a detrimental effect on the power
capacity of the batteries and will lead to “low flow” performance.

PARTS REPLACEMENT, CLEANING AND DAILY USE
Under normal conditions and assuming regular maintenance, the Power Cap motor unit should last for 2 - 3
years, other parts will need replacing as detailed below. Prior to use of the Power Cap the user must check
all components and satisfy themselves that it is suitable for use, if any parts need replacing follow instructions
below.
Spare parts are available from the original retailer or by contacting the manufacturer. Replacements for all parts
are available, some parts may require the unit to be returned.
Always check the airflow level before use, using the airflow indicator provided
Cleaning the Cap and Housing.
The Cap and motor/filter housing should be cleaned only with a lightly damped cloth and mildest detergent. Care
must be exercised to avoid any liquids entering the motor/fan assembly or damaging/wetting the inside of the
filters.
Changing the Cap.
The Cap part can be replaced whilst preserving all other parts. Carefully remove the “studs” on the underside of
the brim of the Cap. This is best achieved by “lifting” the heads of these 4 studs with the aid of a non-sharp knife.
When the 4 studs have been removed, replace the Cap with a genuine replacement supplied from JSP Ltd or it’s
distributors, and line up the airflow outlet cut-out as well as the stud location holes. Push the studs firmly through
the Cap brim into the housing and finally recheck the airflow with the indicator provided.
Changing the Faceseal Skirt
Remove the skirt from the visor and remove the rivet from the cap. To remove the rivet pull out the centre part,
retain the two parts of the rivet and the washer for reuse. To attach the new skirt to the cap take one of the
supplied rivets and washers. Place the washer over the rivet, pass the rivet through the hole in the skirt from the
inside and then through the hole in the side of the cap. Press the middle section of the rivet home and this will
secure the skirt in place.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Power Cap should only be used in situations where EN 12941:TH1 and EN 812 apply. The Power Cap does not
provide protection against the effects of falling or thrown objects, or moving suspended loads. The Power Cap
should not be used instead of an Industrial Safety Helmet as specified in EN 397. The instructions inside the
Power Cap should be read and understood as well as these instructions before use.
WARNINGS!
THIS APPARATUS MUST NOT BE WORN WITH THE BLOWER UNIT SWITCHED OFF. WHEN SWITCHED
OFF A RAPID BUILD UP OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND DEPLETION OF OXYGEN MAY OCCUR.
WHEN SWITCHED OFF NO RESPIRATORY PROTECTION IS PROVIDED.
THE APPARATUS SHOULD NOT BE USED IN EXPLOSIVE OR OXYGEN DEFICIENT ATMOSPHERES
THE USER SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THE BATTERY CABLE COULD BE CAUGHT UP WHILE IN USE.
AT HIGH WORK RATES THE PRESSURE IN THE DEVICE MAY BECOME NEGATIVE AT PEAK
INHALATION FLOW.
