APPLICATION AND LIMITATIONS
APPLICATION
Please ensure that this information is only used to check that the product selected is suitable for the intended use. Any
product that is damaged, torn worn or punctured should be discontinued from usage immediately.
Length: 20m.
•
Can be used for raising or lowering a person or material into confined spaces
• Maximum lifting load capacity as per EN 1496: 135 kg.
• Maximum lifting load capacity as per machinery directive 2006/42/EC: 250 kg.
• Tested as per EN1496:2017 class A.
• Equipped with a mounting plate and four bolts for mounting on Tripod FAR1003.
• Equipped with steel screw locking connector, gate opening 18 mm, conforms to EN362:2004 class B & M
•
Preferably use the FAR0205 confined space harness with the product.
• Galvanized steel cable of diameter 4.8mm.
• To be used with a Self-Retractable lifeline when deployed for raising or lowering a person
1.
Place the winch on to the mounting bracket on the Tripod and insert the guiding pin to stabilise the winch on the
mounting bracket.
2.
Ensure that the 4 holes in the steel housing exactly match the holes of the mounting bracket provided on the tripod.
3.
Insert the fasteners into the mounting bracket plate of the Tripod & tighten by using the Allen key provided with the kit.
4.
Pull out the handle of the winch and rotate it anti-clock wise to release the steel wire. Keep on releasing till you are able to
release enough length such that it can pass over the pulleys of the Tripod & be suspended vertically downwards.
5.
At the head of Tripod, lock the wire using locking pin, doing so restricts unwanted movement of the wire during usage.
6.
Attach the connector on the winch wire rope to the correct attachment point on the user’s harness. Ensure that the
connector is locked. The personnel can now be lifted or lowered by rotating the handle. Ensure that the communication
between the lifter and the liftee can be maintained at all times during the rescue process.
LIMITATIONS
• Do not use if you have any medical conditions which could affect your safety in both normal and emergency use.
• The equipment shall only be used by a person trained and competent in its safe use.
• A rescue plan shall be in place to deal with any emergencies that could arise during work.
• Do not make any alterations or additions to the equipment without the manufacturer’s prior written consent.
• The equipment should not be used outside its limitation, or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
• Ensure the compatibility of items of equipment when assembled into a system.
• It is important to check before use for any dangers that may arise by the use of combinations of equipment in which the
safe function of any one item is affected by or interferes with the safe function of another.
• Carry out a pre-use check of the product, to ensure that it is in a serviceable condition & operates correctly before it is used.
• Withdraw from use any equipment where there is any doubt about its condition for safe use or if it has been used to
arrest a fall. Do not use again until it is confirmed by a competent person.
• When intended to be used in fall arrest systems, it is essential for safety to verify the free space required beneath
the user at the workplace before each use, so that in case of a fall there will be no collision with the ground or other
obstacle in the fall path.
• Be aware of hazards that may affect the performance or cause failure of the equipment, such as:
• extreme temperatures (below -15° and above +50°)
•
aggressive environmental conditions including sand & grit, cement, hot surfaces, naked flames, welding splatter,
sparks, electrical conductivity
• contact with: sharp edges, abrasive surfaces, chemicals
• Immediately stop using the product if it is exposed to any of the above or is damaged in any way until it has been
inspected by a competent person.
•
Ensure that the Tripod, on to which the winch is fitted, is strong enough to withstand a load of 135 kg.
• Ensure that the winch wire does not strike any obstacles as the personnel is being raised or lowered.
•
Ensure that the winch is used with the FAR1003 Tripod which can withstand the sufficient load.
• For rescue lifting procedures by a rescuer, there should be direct or indirect visual contact or some other means of
communication with the rescuee at all times during the rescue process.
COMPATIBILITY
The winch shall only be used within a fall arrest system conforming to EN363 in combination with a guided-type fall
arrester on a flexible anchor line conforming to EN353-2 or lanyard with energy absorber conforming to EN354 and
EN355, or a retractable type fall arrester conforming to EN360.
LIFETIME
