7.3.2 PAGING
Normal paging (PA) is the second priority paging method within the MPA 1600 system.
7.3.2.1 PRIORITY
• PA overrides any audible entertainment channels within the system while active.
• PA overrides any external entertainment systems by means of an entertainment mute signal while active
(see chapter 4.4 and 9.3).
• PA overrides any volume controls (entertainment) while active.
7.3.2.2 DESCRIPTION
PA messages are broadcast to a pre-programmed zone selection or can be broadcast to specific zones via the zone selection
buttons for paging in separate areas.
The pre-programmed zone selection typically includes all zones except sleeping areas.
Zone selection is performed by pressing the relevant zone buttons. The zone buttons are toggled on or off for each button
press. All zones are disabled by default, indicating that the pre-programmed zone selection will be used.
Paging is initiated from the 1601, 1605, 1606, 1643 access panels by means of the PA button.
The PA button must remain activated (pressed) for the duration of the message. The paging is terminated with the button is
released.
The PA is announced with an attention tone. This tone is distinct from the emergency paging attention tone to differentiate
the two types of paging.
In case a General Alarm is active, the normal paging (PA) button will not function. The EMPA button must be used to
broadcast an EMPA during an alarm situation.
Normal PA can also be activated from external microphones or other similar equipment. In that case the pre-programmed
zone selection is activated.
The 1601/1605/1606/1643 access panels have integrated mute relays that is activated during PA messages from that access
panel. Local speakers may be routed through this relay to avoid feedback.
The configured priority rules define if it is possible for the access unit to initiate paging. If a higher priority access panel is
currently paging, the PA-button indicator is lit red, indicating that no paging is possible from this access panel.
