Compact MPA
Alarm and PA/EMPA options contains the alarm block time, whether to allow PA messages to be upgraded to EMPA during
an alarm and the ability of a new alarm to interrupt an EMPA message. The alarm block time is the time between the activa-
tion of an alarm to when it is possible to give an EMPA message. This can be set to ensure that there is always a set amount
of time with alarm active before it can be interrupted again. By default, this is zero seconds, meaning that it is possible to
give an EMPA immediately after the activation of an alarm. No PA under alarm causes PA message to be ignored in an alarm
situation rather than being upgraded to an EMPA. If this is enabled, it is not possible to give an EMPA message by pressing
the PA-button on the 1601, 1605, 1606, 1643, the EMPA-button must be used instead. If this is disabled, then pressing the
PA-button will automatically upgrade the paging to EMPA. No alarm under EMPA will postpone alarm activations if an EMPA
is active rather than interrupt the message if enabled. Once the EMPA is complete, the new alarm is activated. If disabled, a
new alarm activation during an EMPA message will cancel the paging and go directly to the new alarm.
NORSOK mode changes the behaviour of the MPA1600 to comply with requirements for Norwegian offshore installations. It
is not intended to be used for maritime installations. By default, this is disabled.
Alarm attenuation can be enabled to apply an attenuation factor to active alarms after a certain time period. The time is giv-
en in minutes after the activation of the alarm and the attenuation is given in dB. By default, no attenuation is enabled.
Record trimming is to remove some period of sound from the end of recorded messages and can be useful with recorded
messages from PABX systems to avoid the sound of the person hanging up being a part of the recording being played.
Alarm synchronisation timeout is the timeout used when waiting for alarm sync from the other MPA1600 in an A/B-system.
This would normally not be changed from the default value unless a redundant A/B-system is present and one or more of the
external alarms connected to these systems have a large delay between the activations of the A- and B-systems.
