The “Advanced”-tab allows users to configure miscellaneous advanced settings for the MPA1600. This includes AGC and
speech power booster, Alarm and PA/EMPA options, NORSOK mode, Alarm attenuation, trimming the end of recorded
messages and alarm synchronisation timeouts.
The sound options include the AGC (automatic gain control) preset and speech power booster to make it easier to under-
stand spoken messages. The AGC can be disabled or set to tuned pre-tuned settings for the InterM PA-93xx amplifiers or the
Phontech 1670/1671 amplifiers. It is also possible to set custom AGC settings, but this requires a thorough understanding of
audio signal processing. The speech power booster is an equaliser preset designed to improve the comprehension of
spoken messages based on the most important frequencies present in speech. This can be enabled if some areas struggle
with understanding spoken messages, at the cost of a smaller dynamic range.
