The tachymeter is either located on the bezel or on the rim of the watch dial. The
tachymeter scale displays the inverse of the respective portion of an hour. In that, it
converts elapsed time (in seconds per distance) into velocity
(in distance per hour).
Example:

30 seconds 120
45 seconds 80
60 seconds 60
The tachymeter unit is 1/h (meaning “per hour”). The tachymeter is a great feature
in sports such as racing, sailing or cycling. To estimate your speed, all you need to
know is the distance covered within the number of seconds clocked. The tachy-
meter value indicated after this time multiplied by the distance equals the speed
expressed in distance per hour.
Example calculation: If you clock the time to
cover 1 km at 40 seconds, the tachymeter will indicate 90 (meaning 90 km/h):
90 x 1 km x 1/h = 90 km/h
