POWERHEAD

CYLINDER/CRANKCASE/PISTON

Insert the piston/connecting rod assembly into the
cylinder bore from the cylinder head side using a
piston ring compressor.

Position the “O” mark on the piston head to the fly-
wheel side.

Connecting Rod Cap

Apply engine oil to the crank pin, the connecting
rod, and the connecting rod cap.

Install the connecting rod cap in the direction
shown.

Apply engine oil lightly to the connecting rod bolts.
Tighten the two connecting rod bolts in two steps:

•

First torque: 2.5 ft. lbs. (3.5 N·m)

•

Final torque: 5.0 ft. lbs. (7.0 N·m)

Camshaft

Apply engine oil to the shaft. Install the shaft in the
cylinder block. Apply engine oil to the cam faces,
the cam journals and the timing gear.
