Operation
Start:
All electrical functions are operated from the combined press- and turn-switch on the
front of the drill head.
Start drilling:
Turn the knob of the switch to the left to "START". The knob returns automatically to
position "1" and the spindle starts rotating.
The spindle speeds:
Are set by the three knobs on the left side of the spindle housing according to the
plate. Gear shifting may not take place while the machine is running.
Power feed:
The selection of the four different feed rates is effected by means of the dial on the
front of the spindle housing.
NOTE!
The dial cannot be turned directly from the highest to the lowest feed or
vice versa, it is necessary to go step by step.
Selecting of feed rates can be made when the drill is running but not under load. The
desired drilling depth is set by the scales on the front side of the spindle housing. The
engagement of the power feed is effected by moving the dial to the right and then
down as per instructions on the sign. By reaching the preset drill depth the spindle
returns automatically to its upper position and stops rotating.
Automatic reversing:
As an option the machine can be equipped with
automatic reversing device for tapping
operations. The switch to be set at the reversing position and the required drill depth to
be set. When reaching the pre-set drill depth the quill changes automatically the
direction of rotation. Never use automatic feed when using reversing for tapping.
When
using the machine for reversing, the spindle speed should not pass 440 rpm.
Maximum reversals are 5 per minute. In order to get a high quality on the threads, we
recommend you use a floating tapping attachment.
If the machine is equipped with automatic reversing for tapping, it does not mean that
the machines can be used for continuous tapping during long periods of time.
The automatic reversing should
only be used when performing tapping of a more
sporadic nature.
By continuous tapping a reversing tap holder should be used.
