Calibration
The total chlorine pH value is temperature-compensated and. For
the measurement of the free chlorine the potentiostatic measur-
ing cell is necessary, otherwise a total chlorine measurement is
not possible. In connection with the total chlorine measurement
and the measurement of free chlorine is displayed in the TOPAX
DX. Measurements of bonded chlorine are performed using and
encapsulated electrode. This total chlorine measuring cell con-
sists of a sensor part with integrated electronics and supplies a
4... 0 mA measuring signal according to the measuring range
0.00... .00 mg/l. The measuring cell is to be calibrated.
Zero point calibration
The zero point calibration of the measuring cell as a rule is not
necessary, since the output signal 4 - 0 mA on the input 4 - 0
mA is co-ordinated (4 mA correspond to 0.00 mg/l free chlorine).
It can occur however that because of the tolerances in electron-
ics of the measuring cell a zero balance must be made, therefore
the zero point is to be adjusted with start-up.
Reference value - DPD
The measuring cell is operated with measuring water. The physi-
cal value in the announcement should be almost constant. The
measuring water is to be taken out from the measuring water
at the measuring cell and the power signal at the time is to be
stored in the TOPAX DX around signal fluctuations during the
DPD regulation as to exclude measuring errors. By means of the
DPD method the total chlorine content in the measuring water is
determined. This value is to be inserted in the automatic control-
ler and to be stored with “OK”. Afterwards the slope is indicated
in the measuring cell. The plausibility of the slope measurement
is supervised. For the announcement of bound chlorine at the
TOPAX DX it is necessary that the total chlorine and the free chlo-
rine, the pH value and the temperature of the measuring water
with the same TOPAX DX are measured.
5.6 „Conductivity“ values input
Technical characteristics

Measuring Signal

amplifier
Measuring accuracy

Record the increasing trend after brine or sea water baths fol-
lowing the quality of the brine. For the production of free chlorine
(if you are using an electrolysis cell of the company Technopool),
brine water must be present. The conductivity of the measuring
water can be measured and the concentration be kept constant.
The measuring signal is converted in a separate measuring am-
plifier into a standardized power signal 4-0 mA.
Calibration
The measuring input is to be calibrated (see chapter 16, menu
1.). The configuration of the zero point is not necessary. Only
the reference value is to be examined and adjusted if neces-
sary. Afterwards the slope is indicated in the measuring cell. The
plausibility of the slope measurement is supervised. Computa-
tionally the measured value is indicated as %-salt content and
in mS/cm
.
