Inspect for Salt and Debris
Buildup on Tank Components
Follow these steps to check the tank components (temperature probe,
low- and high-level floats, and heating elements for salt and debris
buildup (Figure 17):
1.
Drain the tank for inspection.
2.
Shutdown the machine by pressing the emergency stop
button.
3.
Complete your plant’s lockout/tagout procedure for the belt
washer.
4.
Remove the tank manholes if equipped.
Expert Advice—
To prevent heated tank chemistry from running out
onto the floor when side manhole cover is removed, ensure tank is empty
by removing tank’s top cover and visually inspecting tank before removing
the manhole cover.
5.
Remove the tank covers and inspect the temperature probes,
low- and high-level floats, and heating elements for excessive
buildup of salts and debris. Clean using detergents and
brushes that are compatible with 304 stainless steel. Flush
detergent and debris from tank.
